These terms explain how you may use Join a Startup at joinastartup.uk ('we', 'us'). You can contact Join a Startup through the Contact page.
What the site does
Join a Startup helps people find jobs at UK startups and scaleups. Browsing is free. You do not need an account, and we do not take payments or process job applications on this site.
We collect listing information from publicly available employer careers pages and applicant tracking systems. We organise it to help you search. An employer does not need to have paid us or endorsed us to appear on the site. Where we identify a listing as checked, that means our listing checks have been applied. It is not a guarantee about the employer, its finances, working conditions or the outcome of an application.
Listings and applications
We take reasonable care with the information we publish, but employers can change or close jobs between checks. Listings may be incomplete, and our classifications may not capture every detail. Check the employer's current listing, including location, salary, work pattern, eligibility and deadline, before relying on it.
Apply links take you to an employer or its application service. The employer handles your application and recruitment decisions under its own terms and privacy notice. We do not act as the employer or make hiring decisions. We do not receive or store the application you submit on that external service.
Please report a mistake through Report a listing. We may correct, update, archive or remove a listing after review. A report does not automatically change a listing, and we may need information to verify it.
Using the site fairly
You may browse, search and share links for lawful purposes. Do not interfere with the site, attempt to access private or restricted areas, introduce malicious code, bypass security measures, impersonate someone, or send false or unlawful reports. Do not use the site to collect personal information for unsolicited messages.
Automated access must respect applicable law, our published access rules and reasonable technical limits. Do not overload the site, bypass access controls, or republish substantial parts of our compiled database without permission. This does not restrict uses that the law permits.
Site content and other people's rights
Our original writing, software, design and the compilation of our listings belong to us or our licensors, subject to applicable law. Employer names, logos and job descriptions belong to their respective owners. Displaying them does not transfer ownership or imply an endorsement.
You may link to the site and use short extracts for your own job search with appropriate attribution. Do not present our content as your own or reuse material beyond what permission or the law allows. If you believe material infringes your rights, contact us with the relevant link, the right involved and enough information for us to review the concern.
Messages and reports
Only send information you are entitled to share. Do not send confidential employer material, passwords, identification documents or sensitive application information through our contact or report forms. We use messages and reports to respond and run the service as explained in our Privacy notice. Sending a message does not make it public or give us permission to use it for unrelated marketing.
Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy and Cookies pages explain how we handle personal data and any storage or access technologies used on the site. These terms do not replace those notices, waive your data protection rights, or serve as consent to marketing or optional cookies.
External sites and guidance
We link to employer pages and other resources for convenience. We do not control those sites. Their terms and privacy practices may differ from ours. Our guides are general information, not individual legal, financial, tax or career advice. Consider your own circumstances and get qualified advice where needed.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site available, but maintenance, security incidents and failures outside our control can interrupt it. We may make reasonable changes to improve the service, keep it secure or meet legal requirements. We will not use these terms to remove rights you already have. If we make a material change to these terms, we will publish it clearly with the date. Changes apply going forward, not retrospectively.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, a security risk or a legal requirement. Where appropriate and practical, we will explain the reason and provide a way to raise a concern.
Responsibility for loss
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit. Your statutory rights remain unchanged.
If we breach these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for losses caused solely by an employer's recruitment decisions, an external site's actions, or your own breach of these terms. These statements do not remove responsibility for our own fault.
The site is provided for personal job searching and ordinary recruitment discovery. We do not promise that using it will lead to an interview, a job or a particular business result.
Questions and disputes
Please contact us first if there is a problem so we can try to put it right. You are not required to use a particular dispute process or give up your right to go to court.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not take away mandatory protections under the law that applies to you, including protections in your country of residence where applicable. You may bring a claim in any court you are entitled to use under applicable law. We do not require consumers in Scotland, Northern Ireland or elsewhere to bring a claim only in England.
